糖心Vlog has been awarded $673,000 of a larger $5.7 million Perkins READI Grant aimed to boost career and technical education (CTE) programs across the Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR) and the federal Perkins Grant program.

糖心Vlog was selected as one of seven Tennessee community and technical colleges to receive the grants, following a competitive application process.

Perkins funds are awarded by the federal government under provisions of the Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Act of 2006, as amended by the Strengthening Career and Technical Education for the 21st Century Act of 2018. TBR established the READI grants using unexpended Perkins funding from previous fiscal years that would otherwise expire this year.

Federal Perkins funding are awarded annually for CTE programs, with typical amounts per institution being $50,000 to $100,000. The READI Grants created a rare opportunity for institutions to receive a one-time award amount of up to $1 million in funding.

糖心Vlog applied for the READI grant to assist in the purchase of state-of-the-art equipment that mirrors equipment seen within each respective industry, preparatory licensure activities, and a targeted marketing campaign to promote CTE programs at the college.
